10 Best Places For Winter Holidays In North India

Winter, the perfect time to cuddle under a warm blanket with hot chocolate or coffee. But it is also the perfect time to go on a trip with your family or maybe even alone. This time of the year, India looks like God’s own world, beautiful and serene, calm and more poised. If you are an adventurous person it is the perfect time to try out some amazing winter activities like camping, trekking, water rafting and skiing. India also has the perfect winter vacation destinations for nature admirers. Well, I am a nature admirer as well as an adventurous person. So, if you are still thinking which direction to head for the winters let me drop down some of my favourite places in India during the winter.

Let’s start with one of the most visited hill stations during the winters Gangtok. It has an occult charm to its being as it attracts most of the crowd during the winters. The chills may make you ponder of your decision but in no time its snow capped mountains and its fog and snow-covered valley put a spell on you. The cold raw Himalayan wind digs out your adventurous nature and you indulge yourself in snow trekking and skiing.

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with some sports to keep you busy then Patnitop is the perfect destination for you. Known for its parks and valleys and the serene surroundings which turn into the perfect paragliding and skiing destination during the winters. Its beauty is from its surrounding which are forests and snow covered mountains.

One of the most loved and pocket-friendly winter destination is Darjeeling. There are very few people in India who haven’t visited this beautiful place at least once in their life. But during the winter beware as the prices really shoot up. So, last minute booking is not a good idea. Tickets at low airfare can only be bought if you book early or this pocket-friendly destination can make a hole in your pocket.

But there is a hidden jewel in India with lush green velvety mountains amidst the clouds, the house of some mesmerizing waterfalls; it is the ever-beautiful Meghalaya. You can cuddle up with your loved ones and enjoy the snowflakes from your hotel window or enjoy some winter sports and a laughter filled snowball fight with your family. The beauty of Shimla is also enjoyed by the hikers because of the thrills and adventures of the snow. Adventure enthusiast or honeymooners no one can sway away from the charm of Shimla.

Heaven on Earth, it is actually called the ‘Paradise on Earth’ but I prefer to call it heaven because of this perfect combination of snow covered mountains and the lush valleys. Kashmir is like the shining jewel in a king’s crown. Its picturesque beauty is worth capturing again and again in the lens making it a perfect winter destination.

If you are an adventurous traveller like I am, Auli is the one stop destination for all the adventure on the snow you can ask for. It is also known as the snow carpet and it is also the hottest ski destination of India.
